CD Reviews

Excellent double of Acid Jazz and Dub
Adrian Berger | 06/13/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I happened to stumble onto "Kosmosis Of Dub" at a second hand cd store in Melbourne and after only a few listens I was hooked to the sound of dub fused jazz, hypnotic electronic rhythms and jungly sound."Kosmosis of the Heart" (the first disc) is a mainly acid jazz cd that has an excellent array of jazzy, soul and funky instrumental tracks. There are also a number of tracks with raps and lyrics, but the sound of the first disc is distinctly more acid jazzy. The second disc "Kosmosis of Dub" is a set of remixes of the titles off the 1st disc. These remixes are excellent, as the jazziness of disc 1 is kept here, but added to it is a jungle pace, dub/reggae beat, samples, scratches, electronic moves, soulful voice and funky sound. My favourite tracks are "Prada San", "Blow Jam" and the chilled "Under The Sun". Most of the 2nd disc can be deemed "chilled", as anything with such dub influence will be. The first disc can be seen to be a jazz beginning of solid instrumental sound and good production, while the 2nd disc takes you to that more experimental, sound altered level of comfortable, changing grooves. If you are looking for an easy listening double album with a variety of sound then this is the one for you. Mood music that suits many a situation..."
