CD Reviews

Gorgeous.

"I heard this on imeem one day and had to have it. It's a different take on the beatles, as it is a female chorus singing, but it's absolutely beautiful and relaxing."
Average, unimaginative and boring.

"This is pretty much the same Beatles' songs that you've listened to over and over again, except they've taken out the bounciness and beat to it. There is nothing creative about the arrangements of the songs. You've got slow-downed versions of them. You have a lead solo accompanied by "wooos" and "aahhhhs" in the back. The singing is average. It is blend and boring, unlike the emotions-filled originals. Really, that's it. Some artists who release albums of Beatles covers at least do a little bit of re-arranging of the songs, add a little bit of their own styles to it. This CD certainly does, but that style is "blegh."

Complaints aside, I'd imagine this album good when listened to at bed-time. Or as a quiet background music. However, the performance is so blend and boring that I can hardly listen to more than 2 or 3 songs without jumping out my bed out of boredom.

On the flip side, the choral does give these Beatles songs a sort of ethereal quality. However, the songs, as said before, aren't re-arranged to make them suitable for that sound effect. Therefore it sounds a bit of unfitting and out of place at times.

Anyway, I am no expert at music criticism and I lack the vocabulary of making my thoughts as clear as I'd like them to be. Just go on youtube, and type in choral beatles. Across The Universe is on there, which is quite good. But imagine the exact same thing for the rest of the songs listed on the album, and you'll get the idea."
