Synopsis

Product Description
Much anticipated debut full-length by Swiss beatmaker Chief. With Collabo
Collection, Chief delivers a groundbreaking collection of collaborations, made
between 2005 and 2009, that showcase different facets of his genius beatmaking.
The majority of the songs are previously unreleased. The album features an
A-team list of guests including Moka Only, John Robinson, Kissey Asplund,
Dynas, Blu, Co$$, Les Nubians, Just Brea, or Abstract Rude to name but a few.
Chief was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he grew up and still lives today.
After showing interest in music at an early age and specifically Hip Hop since his
early teens, Chief began DJing at the age of 14, and by 21 had started to create
his own beats. Countless music genres ranging from Jazz or Neo-Soul to Hip Hop
or Electronica can be cited as influences on Chief s music, yet his productions
strongly retain their unique identity.
Over the latest years, Chief supplied beats to a wide range of artists, including
gold selling R&B female duo Les Nubians, ex-Swollen Members leader Moka
Only, genius rapper Blu, rising star Kissey Asplund, Hip Hop master John
Robinson, Dj Spinna s protégé Dyans and many more. Chief also entirely
produced several albums, such as Are the Groove with Maryland rapper Kay Dee
aka K-Skills, and a couple of albums with Brooklyn-based rapper Sene including
Garbage Pail Kids.
From downtempo hybrid beats, to atmospheric urban soundscapes or sophisticated
soulful beats, the album showcases different moods while retaining Chief s unique flavour throughout all twenty-one tracks. A must-have release,
offering a deeper insight into one of today s beatmaking growing talents, and
a chance to own brand new and exclusive material from the hottest and the
most promising urban artists of the moment. For fans of John Robinson,
Moka Only, Stones Throw, Mf Doom and J Dilla.

CD Reviews

For Pete's Sake...
J. Webb | Washington, DC | 12/01/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Pete Rock that is. If you are truly a hip-hop, soul and jazz fan then let the Swiss native Chief take you on a smooth and flavor filled journey. The album features vocal contributions from some of the world's finest (Blu one of the undergrounds hottest MC's from Cali, Les Nubians from France and NYC's John Robinson.)

Chief like French producer Dela takes heavy influences from the legendary producer Pete Rock by lacing the most infectious jazz and soul beats with good baselines, mellow tempos, layered sounds and then finding gifted wordsmiths to paint the picture creating a perfect song.

With all of this beautiful music that is being made across cultures and countries its a wonder that we & our world leaders have not taken heed to see what can be created when we work togehter for a common good.

Salute the Chief, support good music and add collabo collection to your music selection!"
