CD ReviewsGrab a Chair jerryexspresso | Columbia, MO USA | 08/09/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "While it took me a while to appreciate this CD it quickly became one of my favorite. The level of virtuosity of the musicians is mind boggling but it never overwhelms the music. The energy level is so high that the cheering on here sounds like a roar during a football game. "Humpty Dumpty" is a great example of modern piano playing with its oblique changes and Corea's open pentatonic flurries while Dave Weckl seems to have 6 arms. John Pattituci matches both of them and produces one of the few bass solos that have remained in my head long after hearing it. Listen to this music sitting down: it will exhaust you." Drummers paradise I am the | Live from Kolob | 05/05/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "This CD features a young, raw, brash Dave Weckl at the peak of his career. There are probably four or five extended drum solos on this album and each one is totally mind blowing. Weckl's drumming on this and the Acoustic Band's studio CD totally changed the way I view the instrument, and firmly ensconced Weckl in my mind as the most technically proficient drummer of all time. Oh yeah, the keys and bass are good too." Virtuosity Anon | 12/28/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "Quite possibly the best (and certainly most energetic) contemporary jazz trio. The level of technical brilliance is astounding - although sometimes it seems to go overboard into "musical athletics". But either way you will be floored by their talent and energy. Corea's unique flavor of jazz - elements of Latin, Asian, and all other sorts find their way into his playing. This is pure Chick, live."
