"Chausson's music can be so intense as to be almost shattering. Ms. Norman's rendition of these amazing songs is passionate, lyrical and powerful. She is dramatic and nostalgic, commanding and fierce, even romantic. I have the greatest respect for her capability. I also have Messr. La Roux singing the Poeme de l'Amour et la Mer on a recording done with Charles Dutoit, but it simply lacks emotional authenticity. After hearing this version, I usually put it away for several months. It has too much emotional impact to hear more often than that. The sound is quite good but not superb: hence the 4 stars. This recording is also available in a lower-priced version."
