CD Reviews

Junkie garcia gets a free Casio keyboard
Aparato SuperSonico | Orlando, FL | 07/14/2005
(2 out of 5 stars)

"Here's Garcia recorded on an event commemorating those who died a the hands of the brutal military dictatorship of 1976-1983. Garcia wanted to have helicopters flying by at a point in his performance, dropping sacks of what looked like, people inside into the Rio De la Plata river. Since his well publicized intentions caused an uproar, he wisely decided not to go ahead with that piece of "performance art". What we have here is the live recording of Garcia with his trusty Casio keyboard, as he mumbles and snorts from one hit to another; his voice a tragedy of too much alcohol, drugs and cigarrettes, and the sound of a cheap synthesizer replacing all of the members of his band. This album is but a shadow of what he was. If you want to hear him in better form, check out the "Unplugged" album (although Alzheimer's plays a leading role as he forgets half the words of his own compositions, and has to be rescued by the lovely and talented [but unfortunately dead] lead guitarist Maria Gabriela Epumer). Or you may want to check out "Yo No Quiero Volverme Tan Loco", a live album with his old band Seru Giran. In brief, Garcia croaks and mutilates through some of his best songs, but as the rhythm box maintains practically the same beat throughout the CD, and the tracks all seem to sound the same, this CD is best left to those die hard fans who'll buy anything this guy farts."
Muy bueno para los seguidores
Eduardo Nolazco | Lima, Peru | 06/19/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Personalmente pienso que este disco puede no gustarle a los que solamente han escuchado "Nos siguen pegando abajo" o "No me dejan salir(estoy verde)". Sin embargo, creo que es un disco MUY bueno porque toca puros temas buenos: de los antiguos y de los nuevos ("Chipi chipi", "El aguante", "Sweet home buenos aires", etc.). OJO: es un concierto! no un Grandes Exitos!."
Catchy

(3 out of 5 stars)

"I'll be honest, I haven't heard the whole CD yet, but our local college radio station (WRAS Atlanta, the voice of Georgia State University) played a portion of it - including "Sweet home Buenos Aires" and I thought it was pretty kickin. It's a bit more musically mature than past Charly Garcia work. Providing not just a catchy tunes, but real "music". I recomend it."
