This New Yorker who has transplanted herself to Austin's fertile musical environment is a singer/songwriter that manages to freeze moments into images, then breathes a life into them. She had a band in the east called The Jerks and then toured as a side person with Dan Zanes and Friends, playing guitar, mandolin, and vocals. She relocated to Austin to bring some change, and now has a plan to do a 10-month tour that will involve residencies in 10 different cities. This way she gets to absorb some of the culture, make new friends and create new bands in these different locales. It's an ambitious project, yet one that has some strong merit to it. If nothing else you have to take your hat off to her for her quite original approach to touring and, frankly, a way that has several built in advantages (think building fan bases, exposure to different thoughts and musical ideas, etc.)

On this disc she plays guitar and does all the lead vocals and has Will Sexton on bass, guitars and background vocals, David Holt on guitar, and Rick Richards on drums: and there are a tremendous number of musicians who contribute on a song or two such as Gurf Morlix and Abra Moore. to name but two. The songs are all her compositions though on three of them she shares credit with a co-writer. Her voice is sultry and belies her late teens early twenties looks, and there is a strength in there that comes through. The songs touch on things such as young love, passing time by way of using a bottle and how love can make you act in ways that you know are wrong. Nothing much different than what other songwriter's write of but there is her own stamp on the songs. An interesting disc that bodes well for those that will follow.
