"This music lives and breathes as a performance. Absent the human factor, hands on the keyboard and resonance of the piano, it would be an exercise in concept only; an intellectual contruct. It demands you listen intently. To give it less than your full attention throughout would be no different than ignoring it entirely. We're in the land of "less is more". The "less" of it is the music on paper. The "more" is the endless micro-variation in sound as hand and arm muscles interact with the piano's mechanics and the vibrating string.



The recording itself is evidently equalized to deliver as much overtone and nuance as your sound system can deliver. That was the producer's strategic decision, and it works beautifully."
