Synopsis

Amazon.com
Charivari skillfully blends classic Cajun instruments such as the fiddle and accordion with the drums and electric bass of a modern rhythm section. They take their name from a traditionally raucous group of Louisiana party animals who are famed for their ability to take over any gathering and turn it into a chaotic but enjoyable all-night affair. The playing of fiddler Mitchell Reed and accordionist Zach Huval is steeped in Cajun tradition, with strong doses of blues and zydeco. Singer Randy Vidrine, who cowrote most of the songs here with Reed, has a voice that is classically Cajun. His nasal twang sounds particularly fine on the sorrowful Adam Hebert songs "I'm Lonely Tonight" and "La Dernière Fous." But like their namesakes, Charivari thrives in a party atmosphere. On songs such as "I Want to Dance with You," "The Monkey and the Fiddle," and "I Don't Like to Work," the band works hard to make sure everyone has a good time. --Michael Simmons

It Don't Get No Better Than This!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I saw this band in person this Sept at the Festivals Acadiens in Lafayette Louisiana and got hooked. They are fun, talented, energetic, magical, happy, and their traditional tunes and vocals will knock your socks off.
I am unable to sit still when they are playing!
There is not a bad cut on this CD.
Enjoy!"
