CD Reviews

A band always too late...
M. D. Fonseca | Thunder | 07/25/2008
(3 out of 5 stars)

"British rockers Chariot, led by Pete Franklin, released two acclaimed "underground" gems in the eighties, WARRIOR and BURNING AMBITION. Bothe were equally good, but totally dated since day one of their release. Both were rooted totally in the NWOBHM, but were released in 1987...

Now, after 20 yeasrs, they release their third album. The sound is ok, production decent, there is a modern edge, but, in almost every sense, it's pedestrian. New solo guitarist Paul Lune is moderately skilled, but his pentatonic scales are so obvious that they will annoy even the most basic and beginner guitar player or experienced rock listener.

Franklin's vocals are still great. They are almost common, not even near any level of greatness, but there's something there that just grabs you by the throat. Maybe is the attitude, the confidence he puts in singing over that pile of mediocre songs, I don't know.

But at your own risk if you don't know the band. If you liked their others albums, this one will not disappoint you."
