A pleasure to listen....

"Soaring, crisp, and deep. If you are into bands such as RIDE, Slowdive, My bloody Valentine, Joy Division, Echo & The Bunnymen, Coldplay, Stone Roses, The Charlatans UK, etc. you must get this record. "Blood Music" is one of my favorite listens to this day. You need to get this! PK"
Shoegazer with a techno twist

"with bloodmusic, chapterhouse melds shoegazer guitars and vocals with techno beats, especially on the second disk. the vocals are as heavenly as their debut "whirlpool" but the music structures are quite different. the songs on this album are grand, why this album was overlooked is hard to understand. it was a little ahead of its time, so that may be the reason. anyway, buy both chapterhouse records and enjoy. although the music does have a loud rock edge, there is something heavenly about how the songs sound. this music will always have a place in my heart and if any band is thinking of a comeback, here is the one that should do it. btw, this album is not disco. the songs are full of emotion and meaning. just listen to "greater power" and decide for yourself. this album is a keeper."
An unjustly overlooked album... even by the band's fans!

"Is it just me, or is this album really the logical progression from Chapterhouse's earlier successful singles "Pearl" and "Mesmerise"? I can't quite understand why fans of their debut album "Whirlpool" scorn "Blood Music" whilst at the same time advocate "Pearl" as one of the band's finest moments.

"Pearl" and "Mesmerise" were both great marriages between pretty, ethereal soundscapes and good solid pop. To my ears "Blood Music" continues in this vain admirably, but more fully formed and confident. That's not to say it's all great, there are some moments you wish they had left out (eg. "She's a Vision"). But in general they managed to blend electronics, pop melodies and their lovely dreamy harmonies and chiming guitars very successfully.

Not that "Whirlpool" is a bad abum, but really, did the world honestly need more sub-standard MBV or Cocteaus covers in 1993? Chapterhouse obviously thought they could do better than that, and they proved it when they released this album."
