Chamillionaire - The Sound of Revenge
Constant | Vancouver, BC Canada | 12/19/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Chamillionaire delivers an impressive album with his major release debut "The Sound Of Revenge". Banging beats and on point lyricism leads to a entertaining album. A hungry sounding Chamillionaire opens up the album with a solid intro, hyping up his audience for whats to come. Houston's Chamillionaire delivers a outstanding banger with "In The Trunk", reppin the South with pride, while calling out the industry for being on Hovs ****, giving shoutouts - all the while rhyming with a addictive fast flow, and delivering his own chorus. Lil' Flip drops in for the next track, "Turn It Up" a club banger, while Krayzie Bone makes an appearance on "Ridin". Killer Mike & Pastor Troy collab with Chamillionaire for "Southern Takeover", all 3 MC's do well. The next track "Frontin" is dedicated to the fakes and haters and is laced with a nice beat. Chamillionaire switches things up by singing about the ladies on "Grown And Sexy" then hooks up with singer Natalie for "Think I'm Crazy". Another standout has Chamillionaire teaming up with Southern Legend Scarface and the talented Billy Cook for the deep "Rain". Chamillionaire delivers some heartfelt and real lyrics on "Void In My Life" while shining once again on the "Outro". I recommend Chamillionaire's "The Sound Of Revenge" for the collection."
It's the Southern Takeover...

"This is one of my favorite Southern Albums. Chamillionaire took the south and made it a big cannon, pointed at the rest of the Hip-Hop world, and fired. I AM NOT a big fan of Southern Rap. I live in Atlanta, but I've been annoyed by rappers like D4L, Dem Franchize Boys, Lil' Jon, and so many others who make nothing but CLUB songs... Honestly it's nice having a good track to dance to, but rap is more serious and more political than "Shake that Laffy Taffy..."

Atlanta was runnin rap for awhile and I was worried about southern influence... Ok so when I bought this album, I was a bit skeptical. I've heard Mike Jones... His album got old quick... I GAVE it away! I listened to Slim Thug and Paul Wall... I thought Houston rap would never impress me other than old skool Scarface and the Geto Boys... But when I heard this album by Chamillionaire, I was impressed. He is indeed a southern lyricist.

Songs that I liked the most:

2. In the Trunk - one of my favorites, if not my fav

6. Southern Takeover - Made me open my ears to southern rap

10. Think I'm Crazy - Amazing story telling... Classic

11. Rain - A very good and emotional track

15. Void in My Life - Makes you sit and think... really...

16. Outro - Made me hungry for his next album

Those are my favorites... And I'm very critical of songs so 6/16 is VERY good."

"If you like rap you will love this. anyone that is scepticual about the south dnt worry bc he is very different from most southern rappers. i am a fan of rap music but mainly rap music that has intelagenc behind it. like wu-tang nas and most new york mcs. although at the same time he still keeps his southern roots. if you like any rap you will like this. first of all any one giveing this cd a bad review needs to listen to it again and listen to his message and pasio0n for rap. he is like a down south cassidy. I for one am a huge huge fan. and right now would buy any of his stuff over a whole lot of mcs. he has been talking about the realease of this cd for some time. he is not a new comer to rap he proble has like 15 mixtapes that are exclusively his material. he is a great dj. and he is bring a new side of hip hop to the dirty south. o and for the previous reviewer he put out 2 cds with paul wall and carried him on both of them. he has made his name on his own and didnt come up under any one. if you had to say he got any help it was from the souther dj og ron c. he is already a veteran in the rap game and has only released one major label album.

as the album goes it has been long awaited. every track i would give at least a 9 out of ten. he has a good cast of featured artist that complament his style and do not come close to over showdowing his prformance like many other new artist fall victim to. lil flip krayzie bone killer minke pastor troy bun b and lil wayne are the big named featured artists. the production is off the hook. with scot stourch on the club banger turn it up featuring lil flip and mannie fresh on the fly as the sky with wayne. the beat bullies also produce much of the cd.

Chamilionaire will be one of the best rappers in the game. he is the total package he has a sick flow and dilivery. his voice is very tight and lyricaly cant b touched. i would go as far to say he will be one of the best by the ned of his career. if you dnt buy any other album this year buy this one u will not be let down. he is the truth in texas. and if you like the album get the mixtape messiah and chamilitary and his other 7 or 8 mixtapes. they are just as good or maybe eveny better then this cd. dnt buy the paul wall chamilionaire cds. not bc they ar bad they are classics but bc they dnt go to chamilionaire paid and full did him dirty and stold his work and realesed the 2 cds after he left the lable so downloade them. im sad to c him not with paul wall cuss they were great together but he doesnt need him at all. jump on the chamilionare bandwagon he is soso SICK!! gunna be turning alot more heads with more material."
