Search - Certain Distant Suns :: Happy on the Inside

From the Chicago suburbs, Certain Distant Suns make their debut with Happy On the Inside, a compilation of the quintet's earlier self-released discs, Huge E.P. and dogrocket. Remixed by guitarist-vocalist- auteur Justin Mroz, songs such as "Snowfall at the Most Curious Times" and "Bitter" sound even better than they did in their original incarnations. The Suns combine a hazy ambient production style, catchy pop choruses, fluid hip-hop rhythms, and some very intriguing samples (they used chanting monks before chanting monks were hip) to come up with a sound that's distinctly their own. --Jim DeRogatis
