CD Reviews

Excellent music, excellent collection!

"I grew up on metal; it's in my blood. Presently, at the age of 35, I'm in grad school, and I'm a DJ producing a metal show at KTUH college radio in Honolulu, Hawaii. I've always been a rabid collector of cds, and since I've been a DJ, I've never bought so much music. I'm in the process of collecting all of my favorite thrash albums from the 80s (when I came into my metalhood), and I'm exploring artists that I somehow missed. Cerebral Fix is one of those bands I missed. Perhaps it was due to them being from England and not receiving much US press.

To my shagrin, I had never heard of these guys before this release.Metal Mind Poland has been re-releasing some incredible metal classics, so when I noticed they were responsible for this offering, I took a chance. I tried to find song samples elsewhere on the net ( since amazon does not) and I found their myspace page with a track sample on board. I liked what I heard and threw caution to the wind.

The product is better than I had expected. The cds come housed in the typical tall folding gate with a nice book inside, all neatly tucked into a slipcase. The remastering is outstanding, and the music is incredible. The vocals remind me of Killjoy from Necrophagia, and the music is top notch thrash with heavy crunching riffs, tight savage drumming, and some serious lead guitarage that is all but gone from most of today's metal. This stuff is brilliant. It's loud, crunchy, balls-to-the-wall metal, but they manage to vary the tempo and pace to create a listening experience that does not numb the ears.

Thumbs up!
