"This album is the second of 3 collaborations between Newyorrican trombonist/bandleader/singer/songwriter/arranger Willie Colón and the greatest "sonera" that has ever lived, Celia Cruz (she is part of the "Holy Trinity" of Afro-Antillean music: Beny Moré, Ismael Rivera and Celia Cruz), released in 1981.



Although not as excellent as its predecessor (which is a classic by its own merits), "Celia & Willie" is still a very good salsa album. Willie's band sounds tight and agressive, while Celia brings the sweet sound of the traditional Cuban "sonero" (in this case, "sonera"). Check out numbers like "Mi Caso", "Dos Jueyes", "Kiribambari", "Come Down to Miami" and "Apaga la luz". There are a couple of album fillers (which is what the 1977 "Only they could have made this album" basically lacks, thank God) and Willie doesn't do any trombone/bass trumpet playing, but it is still a great album."
