Celeste - a singer-songwriter from the heart
coloradomusicfan | Denver, Colorado | 06/22/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The national music arena has long waited to delight in the music of Celeste Krenz, a mainstay of the Colorado folk-rock scene since the early 90's. "Celeste", her 5th recording and major label debut, will truly inspire and charm your senses. Her soft and breathy voice has excellent range, emotion and phrasing, with just enough edge in the right places. This combination of expertly crafted mellow and upbeat songs is filled with creative melodies and intelligent, engaging lyrics. It will show the rest of the country what they have been missing and leave them wanting more. "Celeste" features a collection of renowned national and local musicians including former subdudes John Magnie on keys, accordion & vocals, and Steve Amedee on drums, percussion and vocals. The record was produced by local Denver soundmeister Bob Tyler.Selections include the enchanting opener, "Since Then", a mesmerizing and exotic melody that will have you swooning in your living room to Celeste's haunting vocals. "Clear Blue Sky" is a foot-tapping, bouncy tune with a great organ, bass line and vocal harmonies that you'll be singing along to in no time. "Don't Send Me Anymore Love" is a syncopated number which literally grinds with the cynicism of an unwanted relationship. "Wishin", most often requested at Celeste's live performances, is a Magnie tune built on her yearning vocals, accordion, acoustic guitar and percussion. At only 2:42, it's just short enough that you "wish" it was longer so you could hear more! "I Had A Dream About You" is a beautiful song about the tragic loss of Celeste's sister, who was killed in a car accident at sixteen. This song, while bringing tears to your eyes, evokes fond memories brought back by our dreams and the passage of time..."the tree we planted by the road, it's tall now, and strong." The closing cut, "It All Comes Back", is highlighted with Celeste's synthesized vocal solo, in which her voice soars, flute-like, as if she were a songbird in flight."Celeste" is an exceptionally refreshing addition to any music lover's collection, guaranteed to become one of your favorites in no time. This is a record you will enjoy again and again, and a great gift idea to introduce your friends to a newly-discovered talent."

"Very good !!!!, having other works of her, she just gets better!!! Her range is superb. Overall, beautiful! It is very nice to hear a singer that does not need to be drowned out with instrumetals to make her music work. Ready for another album!"
Celeste is the BEST!

"I know that sounds a bit corney, but I truly believe Celeste is as good as music gets. Her voice can be hauntingly sexy, in a way that evokes your deepest emotions. Celeste can also be light in a way that lifts you to a higher place. She is also a wonderful songwriter.I've bought all her CD's and am on Amazon today buying more copies to introduce this soul-filled music to the best of my friends. Check it out!"
