CD Reviews

Good music "to do things"
06/14/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I heard the title track, "Cavatina," on my local public radio station and thought it was so pretty I searched for it knowing only that word and the artist for that song. I was surprised at the very low cost--maybe it's been around too long. But it's a good CD. The music is guitar, much of it classically flavored and played very well. The fact it's a tribute to Robert DeNiro is puzzling to me--the liner notes don't explain that. But a number of the tunes are, like Cavatina, pretty. It's the type of music that you can put through your headphones while you're doing something else; I think my daughter would find it good for her job as a data entry clerk. It's a good few notches above elevator music, but not a top-of-the charts type of CD."
DeNiro or Not

"If you're a fan of Robert DeNiro and have seen all of his movies, this CD will be of good use to you. The music will bring back moments in the films that you adored. Even if the music is not recognizable to you, the tune of almost every song is soothing. The first song 'Once Upon A Time In America' and 'Cavatina' are great for background music anywhere. And the price for the whole CD is a good value. It's an import, so the quality isn't going to be as well-heard, but that doesn't change the mood that this music sets. From a sense of joy and fun to sad times, this CD offers many types of music from the many films of Robert DeNiro."
