Synopsis

Album Description
Philadelphia-based 19-year-old singer/songwriter Catherine Tuttle, now in her freshman year at Harvard, is not only a masterful pianist who can play guitar and bass, but also an accomplished painter and actress. She began writing songs at age 13, and a 16th birthday gift of studio time from her parents proved to be the genesis of her budding career. Those recording sessions yielded a few tracks and brought her to the attention of producer/engineer Glenn Barratt, who recognized her talent and encouraged her to record more songs that would become her first album, Peel, released in 2003. Two tracks from that CD were selected for airplay on influential Philadelphia AAA radio station WXPN.After posting some of her music on the Internet, Catherine was discovered by legendary producer Alan Bates of Candid Records, who also discovered Jamie Cullum. He invited Catherine and her family to London, which immediately led to her recording contract. What They Will Find features Tuttle once again produced by Glenn Barratt, who utilized many of the same all-star session players from her first album, including guitarist Jef Lee Johnson (Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel), bassist Chico Huff (James Taylor, Carly Simon) and percussionist Doc Gibbs (George Benson, Erykah Badu and anchor of chef Emeril Lagasse's TV show studio band). What They Will Find showcases an emerging artist with a style that is eclectic and intense, with songwriting influences such as Joni Mitchell and Laura Nyro very much in evidence throughout Catherine's original songs, which comprise all but one track of the new CD.Among the album's many highlights are the title track, which recounts the slow dissolution of a relationship and the accompanying ambivalence former couples often feel in the aftermath; "In Short," the rocking flip-side to the no-regrets melancholy of the title track; "Restless," an ode to the freedom of life on the road; "Alone," with its instantly memorable sing-song melody; and Catherine's take on the Fontella Bass classic "Rescue Me," which turns the original driving R&B sound inward to a pleading, sensual slow dance that dives into the heart of the song.
