"I was surprised to read the reviews complaining about how Mrs Lambert approaches the medieval songs on this recording. Please do not forget that these songs were meant for 'normal' people, peasants, etc. Although I have a lot of respect for Montserrat Figueras, I must admit that Catherine Lambert's interpretation is closer to the spirit of these songs. Yes, her voice may sound closer to what we find in pop music. Remember these were the pop songs of the time. The so-called 'intellectual' interpretation of the 'medievalists' may seem appropriate for the Court, for kings and queens, but Mrs Lambert's choice seems to be deliberate as to avoid the 'elitist' approach of the music scholars. This is a CD to listen to, not to study and compare with the academic structure of the classical voice. Ask anyone who's not a scholar to listen to 'El Rey de Francia' by Figueras and by Lambert... I did it and Catherine Lambert was chosen five times (out of five)..."

""The middle age sound and the marvelous voice of Catherine Lambert are incredibly well married". Is this sentence written in English? Must be one of Miss Lambert's friends who wrote this review. No, this is not one of the best medieval music albums of the century. Miss Lambert's voice is less then remarkable, it is weak , thin, full of air and enhanced with a lot of reverb. The arrangements are quite interesting though."
