Synopsis

Product Description
Cephalclog is the debut release from the junkyard blues pioneer, singer-songwriter Casey Reid. In the vein of Tom Waits and early Beck, Reid experiments with old-style blues and folk music as well as eclectic choice of instrumentation to create his own style of death-rattle blues. Cephalclog was recorded live and features a revolving door of musicians including members of label-mates 7 Shot Screamers, the Vultures, and Johnny O & the Jerks that creates an inviting, energetic atmosphere. Cephalclog has been called the perfectly executed "white man blues" album and has gotten Reid named the "best St. Louis Songwriter of 2006". Cephalclog is an instant classic from one of the top up and coming musicians out of the Midwest.

CD Reviews

One of my new favorites. Raw, gritty, exciting.
B. T. Denyer | Midwest, United States | 01/05/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a fantastic album from start to finish (especially the last song.) And let's start there... "White" is one of those songs that just grabbed me and said 'Play me again, and again'... so I do. The vocals in it are high-pitched and crazy and you wonder if you should be taking it seriously, and yes, you should.

The whole disc is fun and energetic, and you can just feel it is what he loves to do, without it being overbearing and pretentious. When we first listened to this CD, we were taken aback and spun this thing over and over.

"Junkyard blues" is what they are labeling this one. Okay, I guess that sort of touches upon it. But I would say that there are elements of blue-grass, rock, and something raw that you experience in a jam session.

I highly recommend this CD to add to your indie collection of blues/ bluegrass/what-have-you. You won't be disappointed."
