CD Reviews

Quite pleased with the remastering

"Based upon my recent purchases of the Supremes reissues - remastered with their original artwork, etc. - I went for all the Carole Kings Limited Editions - having been a fan since the beginning. It's great having the mini-album covers & liner notes/inserts.

I did have concern reading the only one review re: sound quality but went for all of them anyway. And I must say the quality is very good - on all 5 Limited Editions. Actually, much better than the original CD issue (back in the 90's). (I also purchased this CD when the first Japanese pressing came out in 04.) Yeah, I'm a sucker for Carole King.

Simply listening to the two - there is a notable difference. The sound on these new reissues is full and clean - even better than the original Japanese releases in 04.

Very Enjoyable Album

"This was Carole's follow-up to her seminal, smash hit Tapestry. It of course suffers from an instant and obligatory comparison to that work. Tapestry is one of the great albums in the history of pop music. It was a top seller and was packed with hits. It was also an artistic triumph for King. This album is not made of the same cloth as Tapestry, but it might as well be, as the material is solid and it stands well on its own.

Every song on this is a winner. The difference in quality is in degrees and several of the songs compare to her best work from Tapestry. I suspect that part of the problem for this album was that it was released on the same year as its predecessor and carried not only huge expectations, but the market for King was not ready for another album while Tapestry was still hot and selling. It would have been better to wait another year and tweak the songs a little more before releasing them. Expect a beautiful album of folk/jazz/pop ballads in King's inimitable style. For fans of the singer/songwriter genre. Highlights:

Highly Recommended and fully worth the extra money for the remastered Japanese version which includes an untitled extra track that is icing on the cake."
