CD Reviews

20 Tangos Clasicos-Viva Gardel,Vol.1

"This cd is song by another person, not by Gardel. This can be verified hearing anyone of the songs."

"Where is Vol II? The new music which has been added is a bit much at times and excessive, but better than the snap, crackle and pop of the original 78s. I have recorded the sound tracks of two of his films, and the voice is true. Has anyone compiled all of the songs of Gardel's films? There would be a definite market for those1930s clear soundtrack songs along with the great sounding music. Is this Gardel? I say so, but watch his last film and listen to Por Una Cabeza, then decide."
Definitely NOT Carlos Gardel, but a good Tango CD.

"The title of the CD is "Homage to Carlos Gardel: 20 Classic Tangos"; the singer emulates Gardel's unique style of singing, but it is obviously another singer. I don't know where the rumor that this is Gardel perfectly remastered came from, but believe me folks, this is NOT Gardel. Nowhere in the CD does it say that it is Gardel remastered...I wish it said who the singer was, though; he has a very good voice.
If you want Gardel, then I suggest you get "The Best of Carlos Gardel", remastered from 78's at Abbey Road Studios.
This is an extremely good Tango cd...just don't expect to hear Gardel, that's all."
