Adams | Boston, MA United States | 12/07/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "I had all of these recordings on vinyl in the mid-sixties and am amazed to find them all in one set, at less cost than 40 years ago! This is Giulini at his peak and the Philharmonia as well, which is saying something. His later performances tended to be more idiomatic, but here he exhibits the interpretations that led to a virtual cult following. The Britten performances are particularly noteworthy, and it is interesting that Britten chose Giulini to conduct his 'War Requiem'. The only performances of the period that I think are missing are the deFalla works, which I think have been issued separately.Since this is currently listed as out of stock, I fear that it is no longer in production. I would recommend seeking it by any means; it is indeed...a treasure."
