The Minnesota Portraits and other music by Carl Schroeder features music for concert band, orchestra, chamber ensembles and solo piano by Minnesota composer Carl Schroeder (b. 1982).
The disc includes performances of his concert band works Agora and The Minnesota Portraits, a three-movement suite depicting various Minnesota landmarks; the orchestral elegy Christine's Lullaby, written in honor of Christine Lee Hanson, the youngest victim of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks; three solo piano works performed by the composer, and the jazz quartet Core Event.
The works are performed by more than 400 musicians, including the Minnesota Symphonic Winds, St. Olaf Band, St. Olaf Orchestra, Minnesota Youth Symphony Orchestra and Calhoun-Isles Community Band.
