Synopsis

Album Description
Fabric is proud to present Fabric 25, a rare DJ mix from one of electronic music?s true pioneers and Detroit?s cult figure, Carl Craig. A member of the international techno-circuit since the late ?80s ? Craig is known for his fantastic releases and mixes. In 1989 he produced the classic "Strings of Life" with Derrick May and since has founded his own label Planet E. He?s put out timeless pearls of techno under the pseudonym of 69, Innerzone Orchestra and others. Apart from his own productions he?s made himself a name as a brilliant remixer and refined productions of Kenny Larkin, Ron Trent, Dave Angel as well as songs by Yello, Tori Amos and Ultramarine. Fabric 25 is a white-knuckle ride of 4/4 rhythms, featuring Craig?s own production overdubs and backing vocals. Tracklisting includes soulful house gems from Blaze and Kerri Chandler, Ying Yang Twins? brilliant party beats, and, as a treat, two of Craig?s own stunning productions.

CD Reviews

What were you thinking??
Stuart Fitzgerald | Ireland | 08/08/2006
(3 out of 5 stars)

"I have never felt the need to submit a review to a CD before, but i feel i have to write this one in the vain hope that Carl himself will read it. His mix for fabric 25 is a very good mix, with good track selection, mixing and album flow. HOWEVER, for some reason Mr Craig thought it would be really cool to add his own vocals over the top of some tracks!!!. Phrases like 'get your lighters in the air'...and 'clap your hands' and far too many 'whoooo's' and 'Ughhhh's' for my liking. At no point did i want to get my lighter out and hold it up, nor do i like hearing what Mr Craig sounds like when having sex. Stick to the producing and DJing, leave the vocals & MCing to the professionals. And stay off the whiskey when in the studio!!!! Poor show."
Great album

"This is one of the best Fabric releases I`ve listened to. The way Carl Craig mixes r&b tunes with a 4/4 baseline is incredible. The only miss in this set is the vocals from Carl, they give the album a real live sound, but they just don`t sound right with the tunes."
