Mexican trio Cafe Tacuba celebrates 15 years of making--and often revolutionizing--Spanish rock with Un Viaje. This lush, luxurious live set includes three discs of music and one electrifying DVD. (Separate versions are also available, but this generous edition is the most satisfying and is moderately priced.) The group has culled the best moments from a two-night stand in Oct. 2004 at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, and the results are consistently electric. Every song, every rhythm, every guitar lick, every laugh is important, a not-to-be-missed moment. Cafe Tacuba's potent mix of music and message is a powerful thing, and the group thrives in its unflinchingly earnest, sweetly sincere approach to its art. Even during backstage interviews and recording studio hijinks, each member seems wholly pleased to be a part of the process. Throughout the proceedings, Cafe Tacuba's ardent fans thank them with hoots, hollers and constant singalongs to almost every song, making Un Viaje a joyous trip for everyone involved. --Joey Guerra

CD Reviews

Cafe Tacuba Rocks!!!
Jacob J. Nevin | Bethesda, MD USA | 04/22/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have been listening to Cafe Tacuba for many years now. I have all of their cds. I do not speak spanish, but their music transends true talent. "Un Viaje" is a fantastic live recording. Packed with great songs from the past and songs from their most recent album "Cuatro Caminos", this cd smokes. Unfortuatly, I have not seen Cafe Tacuba live, but after hearing this cd and watching the dvd, I am wishing they will come my way soon to see them. Cafe Tacuba is increadible, sick, off the the chain or which ever phrase you wish to apply. If you like rock music....really like rock music, buy this cd. You will not be disapointed. If you don't speak spanish, it doesn't matter. You'll be jumpin' to the melodies just the same."
Great Cd... and a GREAT DEAL!

"Leave it to cafe-ta to give its fans such a great deal on not only a wonderful cd, but also on an even greater dvd. This is a must have for all the cafe-ta fanatics... like myself. the dvd it great but i wish that it wasnt so edited. it seemed like they took a couple of concerts and edited them together... and sometimes not so discretely. towards the end of the dvd there are some scenes that cuts from them wearing one thing, to another and back again... all in the same song!... but other than that I LOVE IT... ive probably seen it about 50 times and ive had it for about 2 months! once again.. this is a must have for all CAFE-TA fanatics!!!!"
ˇˇCinco estrellas no bastan!!
W. Torres Ruiz | Cabo Rojo, PR Puerto Rico | 04/28/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)
