Two of the album's five compositions clock in at over twenty minutes, with Boyd's electric bass looping and layering into dense and highly listenable structures. Under Perri's tasteful production, Boyd manually doubles and triples his bass lines in real time, with no sampling or electronics. He uses his limited sonic palette to his advantage: electric bass as minor orchestra, with harmonica as a hundred-year-old pump organ. The Greatest Weight is ambient, rhythmic, and surprisingly listenable.
