"About the Band:
C/A/T, simply pronounced cat, is a power noise band that was originally a vehicle for founder Ben Arp to express some of his political feelings. With the addition of Kat Clarke to the band with the release of the Rogue Pair, C/A/T took a turn away from the more serious political content of their first two albums, Worldwide Totalitarian Control and the Prisoner, and have evolved to a much more humorous and dance friendly sound that has helped C/A/T become a club favorite in many US West Coast industrial night clubs.
About the Album:
Continuing in the direction of the Rogue Pair, the limited edition ATF EP is pure fun. With the exception of the instrumental track A Line in the Sand [One Step Over Mix], the remaining tracks are a blend of fast paced, heavy hitting, dance friendly electronics with various audio samples sparingly added to the music. Half of the album includes new remixes of songs from the Rogue Pair (and C/A/T's sideproject Disclosure) and the other half teases us with a sample of what we can look forward to with C/A/T's new full length release. After listening to the album, it should be clear that ATF stands for "Alcohol", something (hint listen to Enhancer), and something else.
Recommended Tracks:
- [We Make] Music to Piss You Off
- Enhancer [Triple D Club Mix by Caustic]
- Enemy Within [Terrorfakt]
My favorite track is [We Make] Music to Piss You Off as it is not only fun to dance too, but it really echoes a sort of carefree approach to music and art that I believe in - the idea that music should be personal and it other people shouldn't let other people's opinions bother them. I also really enjoy the last bonus track, The Prisoner (Live and Loathing in Las Vegas).
The amazon.com warning about explicit lyrics is most likely due to the subject matter of the two Enhancer remixes. As I pointed out with the C/A/T's previous album, the Rogue Pair, the lyrics of those tracks are honestly not much different than anything you might see on TV shows such as South Park, Family Guy, or Drawn Together - the soundtracks for the first two series also share the same warning.
