A Broadway Diva Swings

"Ann Crumb's CD is fantastic! The first song, Blues in the Night, is an incredible start. Her voice is strong and earthy. You believe the words she sings. Ruby is intriguing and heartfelt. The song that really blows my mind and which I have played more often than any other on the album is "Cry me a river." This is simply the best version of this blues/jazz song I have ever heard. After hearing this CD I wish she would do another ... real soon! I would especially like her to sing "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess. I cannot believe this album is not more strongly marketed. Ann Crumb needs a good agent."

"I was unfamiliar with Ann Crumb until I recently saw her on stage in a Broadway production. Her voice epitomizes that sultry blues style that gets right down into your soul. I perused the cover of this album and selected it based upon Crumb's voice and the musical selections provided, particularly "Blues in the Night", "Lover Man," and "Cry Me a River". These three tunes, as well as the other vocals, do not disappoint. Henry Allen's sax blends nicely with Crumb's voice and strongly stands alone on the instrumental tracks. If you like cabaret style blues, this album is a sure bet!"
