CD Reviews

Sharp wit, talent return in Sharp's sophomore CD

"I've been a huge fan of Bree Sharp since her "David Duchovny" days and have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of her second CD. Now that it is finally here, I have nothing but lavish praise for it (of course!).1) Lazy Afternoon: 5/5, Catchy tune, meaningful, poetic sociopolitical message about deforestation, Manifest Destiny, and animal cruelty2) Everything Feels Wrong: 5/5, Great break-up tune with wry, witty, and up-to-the-minute lyrics (see "phat tattoo," "MP3 files")3) The Galaxy Song: 5/5, Soothing New Age-type lullaby with otherworldly message and great vocals4) The Last of Me: 5/5, FABULOUS woman-scorned song with disarmingly catchy lyrics and a hauntingly direct promise for revenge5) The Boys of Summer: 5/5, Terrific, rocking gender-bending cover of Don Henley's classic "Boys of Summer"6) Sunday School & Cigarettes (Slippin' Away): 4/5, Breezy, Jamaican-flavored beats make this a catchy tune but it's not my favorite7) The Ballad of Grim and Lily: 5/5, Heartbreaking song-story about two on-the-run lovers8) Dirty Magazine: 4/5, BEST SONG ON MORE B.S., I only rated it 4/5 because it is too short; hilarious lyrics, great beat9) Morning in a Bar: 5/5, Hauntingly mellow tune about a melancholy, beer-soaked existence10) Sleep Forever: 5/5, Great finale with flowing rhythm, catchy lyrics"
You better watch your back, she's coming after you

"My sister and I would always see "A Cheap and Evil Girl" at the record store while remarking at what a talentless POS Britney Spears is. My sister decided to purchase the album and it quickly became one of our favorites. "More B.S" is equally brilliant. Unlike a few of the reviews above, I believe that More B.S. is just as sharp and poignant as her debut.

Track 1: Lazy Afternoon 5/5

Exceptionally ironic and pointed lyrics make this an awesome reality check to the greedy starbucks society that's taken over the world.

Track 2: Everything Feels Wrong 6/5

If you've ever tried to fool yourself and your friends into believing that you're over your recently lost love and failed, this song should be the theme music. Fabulous!

Track 3: Galaxy Song 4/5

A light and fun science-fiction lullaby.

Track 4: Last of Me 6/5

An incredibly well written revenge song. The lyrics fit so perfectly you almost forget how much you hate that person and want them to pay for what they did to you.

Track 5: Boys of Summer 5/5

Bree takes this song and gives it her own vibe and groove and makes it so much more fun than the original.

Track 6: Sunday School and Cigarettes (Slippin' Away) 5/5

A very chill and laid-back song. Great lyrics

Track 7: Ballad of Grim and Lily 5/5

Bree shows her lyrical prowess and proves her mastery of rhyme with this song. Excellent

Track 8: Dirty Magazine 5/5

Like Faster, Faster, A Cheap and Evil Girl and Guttermouth, this song speaks to the "do what I please" bad girl in all of us.

Track 9: Morning in a Bar 6/5

This eerie and moody song also showcases Bree's magnificent writing. My personal favorite.

Track 10: Sleep Forever 6/5

Sample lyrics "i wake up in the morning and the sun is shining but i barely have the strength to close the curtains stop the sun from hurting my black hole everything's an effort when you doubt the purpose of your soul"

Bree is a goddess. If you don't have More B.S. you are missing out. In fact, you should own A Cheap and Evil Girl, More B.S and Live at the Fez because they are all must haves.

Gotta love B.S.

"There was a time when I didnt know who Bree Sharp was. After buying A Cheap and Evil Girl because the name amused me all it took was one listen to the CD and I was hooked. I've been a loyal Bree Sharp fan ever since. Her sense of humor, her wit, and her sarcasm are addictive. The CD has been a constant favorite of mine and if it isn't in the CD player it's definately not far. More B.S. is another unique and special CD from Bree. Her voice is so different and wonderful. In a world full of mindless coporate music puppets Bree will forever stand out."
