CD Reviews

Simply Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Raider Jack | San Francisco, CA United States | 04/22/2002
(4 out of 5 stars)

"The third outing of the Bay Area's own Braxton Brothers is eagerly anticipated and is quite simply an excellent set. The brothers don't necessarily cover any new ground here; quite frankly, they don't need to. Their exciting combination of contemporary jazz with top-notch R&B coloring had me sold by the "Now And Forever" outing a few years back. Most notably is a really nice "Better Than Nothing" with the incomporable Ledisi (another Bay Area artist who demands to be heard and whose second outing is just as eagerly anticipated!) So sit back, put it on and forget about it. There are positively no duds or fillers here and this is further evidence that The Braxton Brothers are not only a force to be reckoned with but are truly legitimate contemporary jazz artists whom we will enjoy for years to come."

"This CD is nothing but smooth with a taste of R&B. Listening from both brothers you can see they are growing from they last two releases. From Both Sides you will enjoy there music."

"Smooth jazz has a treat in-store for you...the West-Coast team of Nelson and Wayne
Braxton, twin brothers that have the gift of making beautiful music...if you're looking for
Contemporary, Fusion, Urban or just Smooth-Jazz listening, this duo has it right down to the
final track on their new release from Peak/Concord Records ~ "Both Sides", that takes you
to another level in JAZZ! Have collected their previous albums..."Steppin' Out" (1996), "Now & Forever" (1999),
"Melrose Place Jazz: Upstairs at MP"(Original TV Soundtrack) and even the "Jazz Christmas"
(1998), can't seem to get enough of this young and talented family with Nelson on bass and
Wayne on saxophone, creates a sound that keeps you in a positive mode for the day and
night events. The entire CD is even distribution within today's Jazz Scene...look at the funky with shades of
R&B, inclusive great guest artist sitting in ~ Michael Herring, Martin Luther, Ledisi, Monet,
Sundra "Sun" Manning...haunting vibes from "SO DIVINE", takes you into another dimension
with strings, percussion and serene vocals by Nelson..this "fellow-jazz-lovers", is a winner! Total Time: 48:53 on 12 Tracks ~ Peak/Concord Records PKD-8507-2 ~ (2002)"
