Steve Courtney, a well known vocalist around Kansas City, has an amazing tenor voice that breathes life into these songs, as if you are hearing them for the first time. The album is mostly composed of traditional, spiritual Christmas songs with a few newer songs mixed in (like "Mary, Did You Know" and "Joseph's Song"). Steve also features two outstanding original songs as well, "Immanuel" and "God Of Great Surprise". The arrangements are contemplative and intimate. "Ave Maria", performed with piano and cello, is gorgeous. "O Holy Night" is simple, yet remarkably moving. The uptempo "Little Drummer Boy" will have your toes tapping throughout the holiday season.
