Same boys night out brand with a great new taste
a necktie is not a suitable flotati | 07/06/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"i have been a big boys night out fan since before "make yourself sick," and except for "broken bones and bloody kisses" i've gotten every single boys night out album within the first week of it's release (hell, i skipped class to pick up "make yourself sick" the day it came out).

boys night out has always been a band that is about changing, yet staying the same. the new self titled album is no different. although, not quite as good as "make yourself sick," it is better than "trainwreck." in my opinion every single bno album gets a 5, because they are all fantastic. some of their cds may take a few listens to get into it and enjoy it, but i have not been disappointed yet.

let me explain my headline now:

anyone who is a fan of boys night out knows that their songs are all about murder and mayhem.....that's not the case with the new album. the songs on this album seem to be more about life, having fun, getting high, and some slight mayhem. the songs are all great though, and it's nice to see a change in the lyrics.

2 other differences...1 noticeable, the other not so much....is instruments. they now have 2 guitar players again (where "trainwreck" only had 1) and their original drummer ben is back (dave from fordirelifesake filled in for a while).

my only gripe about this album, but doesnt take away any points, is the slow type song that bno have at the end of every album they do....these songs are still really good on every album, but bno is way better when they stick with the faster paced catchy pop-punk.

if this is bno's 4th masterpiece....i can't wait to hear their next effort.

standout tracks include "get your head straight", "let me be your swear word", and "apartment 4".

just pick up the album....no need to even listen to clips. they don't do the songs any justice....you need to hear the full songs."
The best punk band from the Great White North returns!

"The new Boys Night Out album deserves to be heard! The whole album is pretty solid but some highlights are "Get Your Head Straight," "Swift and Unforgiving," and "Reason Ain't Our Long Suit." The new cd isn't as 'screamo' as some of their earlier stuff but the sound is definitely great and shows how the band's sound has evolved. Of course, it still features some of the great prog-riffs that the band is already known for.

Bottom Line: Great stuff- definitely one of the better punk albums of the year."
