Synopsis

Album Description
These two quartets are among the jewels of the Russian chamber music repertoire. The Russian String Quartet was founded as a professional ensemble while its members were studying at the Moscow Conservatory with, among others, the legendary David Oistrakh. Under the guidance of such famous musicians, the Russian String Quartet acquired its own unique style and special repertoire. The quartet pays great attention to Russia?s national music tradition and has been successful in numerous competitions in and outside Russia. For more than ten years the ensemble has performed in all of Russia?s important towns, and is a regular participant at renowned festivals such as the Russian Winter, Moscow Autumn, Rachmaninov Festival, and so on. The Russian String Quartet is characterized by its excellent technique, the strength of feeling in its playing, and its expressive, compact sound. The talent and high level of ability the ensemble possesses, its enthusiasm for chamber music, and its constant efforts on behalf of musical treasures past and present have awakened great respect and appreciation in the Russian public.
