CD Reviews

Exquisite clarity, immediately accessible
A. Peters | Near Chicago, United States | 03/25/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Bonnie Koloc has finally received the quality treatment her voice deserves. Naim, an audiophile music and equipment company from England, recorded this album at Lake Forest College's Lily Reid Memorial Chapel, near Bonnie's home turf in Chicago. The recording has exquisite clarity and provides an excellent vehicle to showcase Bonnie's lovely voice, which carries through flawlessly, whether a capella or with deft accompaniment, both of which are represented here. While she has moved from her early recordings of folk-based Popular Music to something I would begrudgingly call Easy Listening, for lack of a better category or label that others can relate to, I might instead create the title of Quality Music!... If you have heard any of Bonnie's earlier work, you will definitely want to buy this album. If you have not heard any of Bonnie's earlier work, you should definitely treat yourself to this album. You will immediately understand the title "Visual Voice"."
Best ever!!

"This album is the best album Bonnie Koloc has ever made IMO, & that's taking into account such fine '70's fare as CLOCKS & SPOONS & AT HER BEST too. This one balances the folky side with excellent evocative ones like "Ballad for a Quiet Man," "Elise," & "Slow Dancing to the Blues," & stunning covers of "Sophisticated Lady" & "Night & Day." BK's one of the great underrated voices in pop music, but her albums have often been patchy. Not this time-- great singing, great accompaniment, great songs. If you like Eva Cassidy, check this out!!"
