Guitarist Randy Jacobs was known to take off on an onstage backflip or two during his tenure with Was (Not Was). Along with that group's signature voice, Sweet Pea Atkinson, he now powers the Boneshakers, whose blend of funk, blues, and rock comes together convincingly on Shake the Planet, their second album. While never going quite as far out as when they laid down the Was brothers' concepts, the two put forth a skewed-enough worldview on songs such as "Pouring Gasoline on a Burning Man" and "Hype." --Rickey Wright

"Shake The Planet, has the feel but not the intensity of Book O' Spells, loved the cover of Don't Change Horses. While still a great work, I think Book O' Spells, has a bit more funkyness to it, giving it that swing that gets your groove on, like Part Time Man, the floor board in my car is dented from jammin with that song!! Looking forward to the next one."
Very solid rock/rb album

"this is what's left of was not was one of the best bands in the late 80's early 90's. their combination of old school funk rb and lunacy made for some truly inspired music. the boneshakers continue the funk and rb but lose the lunacy. see this band live! randy jacobs is one of the best guitarists in the country, blues rock you name it he is the man. sweet pea atkinson on the other hand is a combination of otis redding james brown and teddy pendergrass all wrapped in one fine package. if you miss b3 organs and great horn charts this bones for you"
