CD Reviews

"Greatest Hits" and then some
Anton Babchuk | 02/14/2005

""Greatest Hits" is a nice package and is a great introduction to, IMO, the best hip-hop group in history. Almost all of their songs that were released as singles or videos are included (from 1994's "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" to 2003's "Home", with the odd exception of "If I Could Teach The World"), plus a slew of other material.

Also included are one solo song from each member, two interludes (actually short songs), some of Bone's more well known guest appearences ("Breakdown" with Mariah Carey, "Notorious Thugs" with Notorious B.I.G), a slew of some of the more well-known non-single Bone songs ("Thug Luv" with 2Pac, "Ecstacy", "Shoot 'Em Up") as well as some singles from the Bone offshoot group the Mo Thugs Family.

Some choices make you scratch your head, though, such as the mediocre "Get'cha Thugon", which was included simply so the album could have a solo song by each member of the group (and that's the only solo song Wish Bone has been released). Also, as most Bone fans will tell you, the single choices by Ruthless Records got kind of odd after E. 1999 Eternal - focusing more on the more commercial "Crossroads"-esque songs than the harder songs - and thus this collection reflects that. I think there are many better songs on the last three albums than are represented here. The songs here are still very good though.

Anyway, it's still a great introduction to Bone. I'd advise you pick up the albums too, as there's a lot of great material and a side of Bone that isn't really represented here.

Here's the chart info for the songs on the album:

Thuggish Ruggish Bone - #22 Pop

Foe The Luv Of Money - #41 Pop

First Of Tha Month - #14 Pop

Tha Crossroads - #1 Pop

Look Into My Eyes - #4 Pop

Ghetto Cowboy - #15 Pop

Home - #19 Pop (UK), #25 Rhythmic (US)

Dayz Of Our Livez - #5 Rhythmic

Resurrection - #23 Rhythmic

All Good - #20 Rhythmic

Thug Mentality - #28 Rhythmic

All the other songs did either not chart (a few) or were never released as singles (most)."
Bone Thugs - N - Harmony Greatest Hits? Not Really.

"I am a long time Bone fan and own most of there albums and I was a little bit dissapointed the way this greatest hits cd was put together. It has some of there best music but a hand full of tracks should be replaced with way better songs than the ones they have. I would have given this album 5 stars if it wasnt for so many worthless songs especially from the dissapointing Thug World Order album, which is bones worst album ever. Tracks like 1. Carol Of The Bones, 5. Shoot 'Em Up, 12. All Good, 14. Blaze It, 15. Get 'Cha Thug On, 20. Still The Greatest (Featuring Big Chan), 21. Get Up & Get It (Featuring 3LW and Felicia), 22. Money, Money, 23. Ghetto Cowboy, 26. Cleveland In The City (Featuring Avant) are all songs that do not deserve to be here. If I was the person making this greatest hits cd I would put only the best bone songs. So without further a do I will make a list below of the best bone songs and replace the songs mentioned above with better tracks.

That right there is the best 26 Bone Thugs - N - Harmony songs and is a much better Greatest Hits album than the one released.

If you have most of BTNH albums then dont waste your money on this Greatest Hits cause it really isnt there best stuff. Its a good cd for people who dont know anything about Bone and only know about there famous hit single Tha Crossroads.Other than that I suggest to gather up all your BTNH cds and burn your favorite songs onto a blank (*its legal if you own the original*)or follow my list above to make your own better version of the BTNH Greatest Hits."
Bone Thugs the best in the game!!!!

"Yo before I review this album, I only got to say one thing. BONE THUGS N HARMONY IS THE BEST RAP GROUP EVER TO BE IN THE GAME. I listened to them since I was 6 years old. I play all day, everyday, 24/7/365. They Thuggish Ruggish til' the day they die. Now back to the greatest hits, they have a lot of great collections of song on this album, the classic "Crossroads (from E. 1999) (sampled from Isley Brothers "Make Me Say It Again"), "Look Into My Eyez", "Foe The Love Of $", "1st of da Month", and etc. But my favorite song on that whole Greatest Hits is "Money, Money". This has been in my CD player since I first bought it. I can't wait till their new album come out in summer."
