Gentle listening

"Luigi Boccherini's twelve cello concertos aren't for intellectual listening. They're cut from the same cloth: lovely, free of anxiety, and a bit plain. But still, as long as you don't expect anything important, you can kick back and read a book. The music is ver pleasant on the ears.

Enrico Bronzi and the rest of the folks play cleanly and efficiently. One can't help but want a harpsichord continuo in this music to add a little sparkle to the dry texture. The sound is a bit boxy throughout.

So, as you can see this isn't the most pressing release out there, but if you enjoy Boccherini's music (and I do), or if you like music of the classical era in general, this release from BrilliantClassics is very much worth considering."
