CD Reviews

Greatest Hits Peppered With Some Great Covers
Cynthia S Harvey | Romeoville, IL United States | 05/08/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Wow. This collection takes my breath away! Bobby Vee has a way with a song. All of his greatest hits are here along with covers of other 60's songs that actually sound better than the originals! Incredible. Bobby Vee is simply unmatched as a vocalist and is one of the most underrated singers around. Whereas a lot of the music from Bobby's era sounds dated, the music on these CD's is timeless. "Come Back When You Grow Up" and "The Night Has A 1000 Eyes" are two of the best, most perfectly-crafted pop songs of the last half century. I'm sorry, but Bobby is an uabashadly romantic crooner, a soulful folk singer, a rock-abilly rocker and is vastly undr-appreciated! Luckily, this collection shines a light on this wonderful singer and boy does he shine brightly!"
Great CD with two of Bobby Vee's best lps + 5 Bonus Hits

"I was very pleased to see this cd issued! Collectables did a great job with the packaging and the sound quality is excellent! The two lps presented fully represent Bobby's great early sixties sound. The extensive liner notes make for interesting reading too! Highly recommended!"
Time Machine

"So if you have ever wanted to take a trip in a time machine, you've got a ticket to the mid sixties with this disc. Bobby Vee recorded some great songs and some corny songs. They are all here. Best part is the sound quality and channel separation are both excellent. Buddy Holly did a few select recordings known as the "string sessions" utilizing violin sections as accompanyment. All of these Bobby Vee cuts use this theme. Try it and you'll love it."
