CD Reviews

Rebirth to Mediocrity
Kyunta Kentai | local vibrations of L.A. | 03/02/2009
(2 out of 5 stars)

"I like the music Bobby V creates. His self proclaimed album and Special Occasions were both very good albums. There was a growth from the self proclaimed to Special Occasions.

BUT The Rebirth is mediocre. The tracks sounds all the same and his lyrics are below average--in comparison to his previous albums.

Who makes a song about "3 Is The New 2" (having 2 girls in bed), when he has a song about "Make You The Only One"? To me, that seems juvenile and not true love.. A lot of his hooks and chorus are generic, just a constant repetition, nothing well thought out. I give this album a 2.5 out of 5.

If you can cop the album for free, get it, but don't waste your money. Or you can download the tracks below b/c these are the only good ones.

Best songs:

Make You The Only One

Butterfly Tattoo

Beep

On The Edge

You're Not Alone

Stay With Me

Another Life

No Artistic Growth

"My Personal rating: 3.5 Stars

I have made a commitment to support Bobby Valentino after I listened to his first album. The first album was so tasteful and sexy; I just knew that this young man was going to go places. I did not care for the second album. It had poor lyrics and he was just soooooo cocky. It was a real turn off. Now the third album has been released and I have to say that it is a big improvement from the second but nowhere near a good as the first one. Bobby Valentino seems to be stuck in one sound. You don't believe? Put your iPod on a Bobby Valentino shuffle (which I did) and tell me if every song doesn't sound the same and flow right into each other. I give this album a 3.5 simply because you can tell that he is mentally growing up, but not much as an artist."
Bobby Back With His Signature Sound

"Well to be honest I liked his first two CD's so this was just a continuation more than a rebirth. Nevertheless, the slow tempo tracks are especially nice. Beep which has gotten a lot of radio airplay is nice with a catchy hook. I really think he has been consistent with all of his releases. I think where he could improve is to have sounds that play into one another more so, he does this here but it is much later in the CD, say track 12. But overall still a better than average CD. Keep flowing B-V."
