Album Description

2003 release that, after following the transcendent Bitter Fruit, ups the ante to another creative level. Certainly, fans of Bitter will more than warmly embrace Bobby's truly unique jangle stylings, but for those not familiar with Sutliff, he was the co-leader in the 80's (along w/Tim Lee) indie pop band The Windbreakers. Influenced by Television (the guitar work of Tom Verlaine & Richard Lloyd to be more exact), Let's Active (Mitch Easter mastered this record), Big Star & The Byrds, Perfect Dream is filled with the gratifying stretches of accomplished, tasteful riffing & rich, haunting & evocative washings of gentle, inscrutable melodies, his best work in an long auspicious career. Not Lame.

"This one is a grower. Not quite as immediately stunning as his previous (Bitter Fruit), but nonetheless, very good. Slightly quieter and less jangly than BF, but I enjoyed it more on the second listen than the first. Very consistent; his voice is just pleasant to hear time and time again."
