At the outset this youthful hunk got criticized, and in some cases deservedly, for seemingly cashing in on the revered name and distinguished career his father, Robert Pulido. But even on this debut album it was clear the younger Pulido was on to something. The first single and title track connected immediately with its hooky beats and easy sing-along chorus. The young lion had taken a page from his father's book--simple rhythmic cumbias with snap, crackle, and pop. Weak-voiced, Pulido wisely took voice lessons and steadily improved with each successive album. But the key was in his assembling a tight band and great songwriters to produce other conjunto polka faves such as "No Se Porque" and "Cuando Me Dejes de Amar." --Ramiro Burr
