Synopsis

Product Description
Recognized as one of the rarest treasures in the history of Latin Jazz,
El Sonido Moderno, rightfully takes it s place among the most elusive
gems ever to be pressed to vinyl and now for the first time to CD.
When you listen to the unique style of Bobby Paunetto, you ll notice
the cool jazzy vibes are perfectly interwoven into the fabric of
the clave creating a truly extraordinary sound. Had it not been for
a debilitating illness Bobby would be among the most celebrated
musicians today. Fortunately we are now able to enjoy this historic
remastered recording. And for the first time ever also included are
the ultra-rare tracks from his Seeco sessions as a bonus. None other
than The Rey himself, Tito Puente, recognized Bobby and even
wrote the original liner notes for the LP. An exceptional recording that
has earned this well-deserving musician his place in musical history.

CD Reviews

A latin music gem is back!
Rolly Urbina | Miami, Florida United States | 08/07/2010
(4 out of 5 stars)

"At least Código Music reissued this gem from 1968, including the ultra-rare Seeco sessions from 1965, originally released as 45s. El Sonido Moderno is a latin jazz winner, featuring Paunetto's compositions and arrangements. This album was recorded during the boogaloo era, so you can find some ones here, but not the monotonous boogaloo sound, the arrangements are fresh and innovative. The Seeco sessions are in a more typical latin sound and includes an all-star lineup: Bobby Rodriguez (bass), Johnny "Dandy" Rodriguez (timbales), Frankie Malabé (bongos), Sonny Bravo (piano) and Willie Torres (vocal). Great liner notes from Miles Perlich. This is a must-have for your latin music collection."
