Album Description
2007 pairing of two classic albums by the vocalist, showman and musical chameleon plus bonus cuts. Sings Doctor Dolittle features Bobby D covering all the Leslie Bricusse numbers from the film. It was his last album for Atlantic, issued in 1967 and produced by Ahmet Ertegun. Born Walden Robert Cassotto was the first of his two Folk-protest albums, recorded for his own label Direction, in 1968, in the wake of the success of If I Were A Carpenter. Edsel.

CD Reviews

Bobby Darin Sings Doctor Doolittle & Born Walden Robert Cass
Steve Wilcox | Hewitt, Texas | 11/25/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Although a huge Bobby Darin fan, I never purchased the vinyl Dr. Doolittle when it was first released, although I have since secured a copy via a record show. I guess the limited appeal of the movie didn't set me on fire. I didn't buy the CD of the LP when it first came out.

The real gem of this is BORN WALDEN ROBERT CASSOTTO. The first of two LPs on his own Direction label, I actually purchased them both when they first came out in the late 60s. Long Line Rider references the same source for the Robert Redford film BRUBAKER Brubakerand is a chilling tale. In Memorium is a tribute to his idol, BOBBY KENNEDY. But I found out about the LP when I found the single for CHANGE is a nickle bin at a record store. Still my favorite of the LP.

This, along with COMMITMENT Commitment/Rare Darinis a must for any true Bobby/Bob Darin fan."
