CD Reviews

So far....another masterpiece

"I'm not one for writing long reviews, suffice to listening to this album has made me question the point of trying to write music. I will never be able to write a song like "21" or "Mr Lucky" or "Sinking Ship", and it almost demoralises me to hear them. Those of you who are prepared to make the effort (and like all Bobby Conn albums, you have to listen a few times before you start to appreciate them) will probably find about half the album to be mediocre and half to be almost too wonderful to bear.

Read some reviews written by those more thorough than I and you will get an impression of what you're in for- a cataclysmic miasma of styles, seamlessly integrating Jazz, Death Metal, Bubblegum Pop and Disco. The overwhelming opinion among my peers however, is that you'll either love it or hate it. There's no telling which, so you're just going to have to take the plunge and hope for the best.

My advice- listen to it three times before you form an opinion- this is not instant appeal; if you're lucky though you'll discover a musical world beyond that which you ever dreamt of hearing. You might find it abhorrent, or blissful. But one thing's for sure- you'll never be bored."
