Welcome back, Moze!

"This is the first new collection of solo recordings by Moby Grape singer/bassist Bob Mosley since the 80s. As anyone who's followed Moby Grape knows, Mosley really fell on hard times in the past couple of decades. It's been rumored that, like his former bandmate Skip Spence, he was even homeless for a few years.

If the music on True Blue is any indication, things are going better for him now! Granted, it doesn't recapture the excitment of the early Moby Grape (neither has anyone else in the past 40 years), but it definitely transcends mediocrity. The only reason I with held one star on the rating, is because I think it leans a bit too much toward a blues boogie style of songwriting. I would've liked to have heard a couple of haunting Neil Young-type folk rockers, like "Queen of the Crow", from the '84 Moby Grape reunion album. T'ain't bad at all, though, and, most importantly, Mosley's singing voice sounds great!!!

I also really like the production on this recording, with just a basic guitar/keyboard/bass/drum kit set up, and very good sound quality. The backup group includes Dale Ockerman of the Doobie Bros. on guitar, and Sons of Champlin drummer Jim Preston. Mosley handles guitar, bass, and vocals. I would highly recommend this CD to Moby Grape fans. Now if only the surviving members of Moby Grape would write, record, and perform together again!!!"

"Still fantastic after all these years. They get better with age. Bob Mosley was the cornerstone for Moby Grape during the sixties and still rocks into this next generation of fans. My 18 year old son thinks this is some of the best music he's ever heard. I'm 57, my son is 18, now thats closing the generation gap!!!"
Welcome back Bob

"While this album is not as good as the classic Moby Grape albums,it does have some good songs. Bob Moseley has aged well and his voice is in top form. He's a pretty good guitar player as well as a bass player. He sings the song "Never", which Led Zeppelin rewrote as "Since I've Been Loving You" as well as other songs that range from electric blues to blue-eyed soul to country-rock. He and his fellow Moby Grape mates should get back together and do a live album with these songs as well as the classic Grape numbers, and his the other members solo numbers. What is really needed is a Live Grape album from around 1968 with a version of Skip Spence's "Dark Magic""
