Synopsis

Album Details
Digitally Remastered Edition of Two Classic LPs Combined in a Deluxe Double CD Package. Their Debut Album,"Blues Rags and Hollers", Follows Through on the Folk and Country-blues Leanings of the Blues Revival. The Result is a Strong, Catchy Album that Sounds Closer to Folkies Than the Typical Blues Revival Record. John Koerner, Dave Ray and Tony Glover Emerged from the Same University of Minneapolis Music Scene that Produced Bob Dylan and were the Best White Folk Blues Group of their Day. This Reissue of their Influential Mid '60s Albums Sound at Times Like a Cross Between the Kingston Trio and Sonny Boy Williamson. Koerner and Ray were First-rate Guitarists, Glover Could Play Harmonica Like Nobody's Business and They all Sang with Style, Enthusiasm and a Dash of Humor. Plus, They Had Great Material, Some from Blues Giants Like Lead Belly and Memphis Minnie, but Much of it Original. The Deluxe Packaging Includes New Liner Notes and Rarely-seen Photos.

CD Reviews

Smokin' Acoustic Blues
M. Ness | Chicago, IL United States | 08/01/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I do not own this particular set, but I do own them individually, and have listened to them since '71. I find KRG to be exciting musically and well rounded in the southern blues. I find it remarkable that three musicians could sit down and cut an entire album in a 12 hour session, and have it become a classic in no time at all. Buy it, buy it, buy it, you will not be disappointed!!!!"
