CD Reviews

The official Bootleg!

"The Blues Brothers Band at their best... But with the wrong vocalists! The band setup is probaply the best they ever had! Danny Gottlieb on drums and "Duck" Dunn on base are grooving their way throug old R&B and Soul tunes... The soloing by the various musicians (M.Murphy, Cropper, Lou Marini) is very solid (there could be more!).When they performed live no one of the band members knew that they were recording the concert! Unfortunately they had Aykroid and Belushi (Brother Zee (?)) on the stage who are below average as vocalists which destroys the great sound they had on that evening (otherwise it would be their best "Bootleg/live CD")!I would pick out "Green Onions", "Born in Chicago", "Messin with the Kid" and "Flip, Flop and Fly" as the highlights. If you listen to the music (and not the vocals) you will hear one of the best R&B bands ever...Tunes like "I got the bucks", "Big Bird", "Peter Gun" and "Everybody needs somebody to love" are unfortunatelly missing...All after all a nice cd. But check out:Matt Murphy - Way down south: Great blues cd!Matt Murphy - Lucky Charm: New cd feat. the Blues Brothers Horns!Tower of Power - Live 98: Funk and Soul band with great horns and groove! Lew Soloff - Rainbow Mountain: Lou Marini plays jazz! There will be a new Blues Brothers CD coming soon...Tim"

"Well, After John Belushi's death, the Blues Brothers are never been the same, but James Belushi is a good one for the band, so this CD is better than "Live In Montreaux" and really better than "Red, White And Blues". Buy it, it's a good album!"
