Otherworldly and Very Cool

"I heard the track "Abyssinean Dub" on Putumayo's album "World Lounge," and - after listening to it repeatedly for about a year and a half - decided to get this CD that has it. I took a risk (there were not, and as of now are not, song clips to "preview" the album) and bought it imported from Japan. And the steep price was worth it, because once I put the beautiful CD into my CD player, I was transported to another world of bazaars, narrow streets, and side cafes with exotic music flowing through them. It has a distinct 'world traveler' feel, like you're a tourist trekking through Turkey, but it's also very urban and cool, evidenced in the bass beats and mixing of the tracks. It isn't techno, but it isn't purely global either; "Hotel Istanbul" is instead a combination of both, a lounge album that whisks you away from the mundane to the exotic and unknown, but with a cool "groove" to it. I suggest you search for "World Lounge" on amazon.com and listen to "Abyssinean Dub" just to get a feel for what the album is like, and if you're struck by its uniqueness, then this is the album for you. I'd highly recommend it as an interesting, obscure, and fun addition to your CD collection. You won't regret it."

"After hearing "Abyssinean Dub" on Putumayo's album "World Lounge" and really enjoying it, I eventually decided to buy this CD. Even at the steep price, this CD is worthy every penny. I was expecting half of the CD to be terrible, but it turned out to be amazing. It contains some of the most relaxing music I've ever heard. It's great for a lazy afternoon, or as background music when you have friends over - - I even use it when studying. There is only one song on this CD that I don't particularly care for, but other than that, this CD is simply amazing. I would definitely buy another of their CDs."
