Thrills! Chills! Gore And More!!
Stanley Runk | Camp North Pines | 06/18/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"The Bloodsucking Zombies From Outer Space are a band as unique as their name. They're on the German horror punk label, Fiendforce(the band is from Austria), and are usually lumped in with that particular genre. However there's a lot more going on with this group than being a mere Misfits clone. Sure, the Misfits influence is there, but it doesn't dominate the sound. This band is obviously into a lot of different music, and they show some of their influences this album. You'll hear bits of punk(of course), 80s metal, and surf rock. There are keyboards and even some odd time signatures that sound kinda Prog-ish. There's also a mini four song rock opera! As you can guess, the lyrics are total horror film worship. There are songs of gothic horror, alien invasions, serial killers, exploitation films, and even songs about simply watching horror films. Singer/drummer, Dead Gein has a raspy punk snarl that's fitting. They use an upright bass which tends to also get them labeled as Psychobilly, but to simply label them as a Psychobilly band isn't accurate.

A Night At Grand Guignol is definitely a masterpiece of horror set to music, and a very fitting title coz it really is a sonic night at Grand Guignol. Bravo!"
